English History Forum:
Racism in England

My general question is "What has been the state of racism in England in the 20th Century?" The US has seen the whole spectrum -- from lynchings and voting intimidation to Civil Rights laws and minorities reaching powerful elected positions. But a friend tells me that England has always been more racist than the US, and the only reason England was as instrumental as it was/is in the establishment of the modern State of Israel was to rid its shores of Jews.
Can somsone give me some sources to refer to to better understand racism in England and its peoples' support of the State of Israel?

If the person posting this message left their e-mail address, we inserted some random characters to prevent spammers from harvesting their address. Spammers do this with automated "bots" that constantly search the Web looking for e-mail addresses. Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <info@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.interesting.com> would become <info@interesting.com>.
