AN ALLIANCE FOR ENGLAND

A MESSAGE FOR THE INDEPENDENT, COMMUNITY AND RESIDENT GROUPS OF ENGLAND

"For we are the people of England that never have spoken yet!"

- G. K. Chesterton in "The Secret People"

"Germany ... has managed to establish tolerable basic conditions for her people. She is organised not only for war but also for peace. We are organised for nothing except party politics."

- Churchill to Asquith, 1908

*** Scottish MPs vote for Foundation Hospitals in England even though they have been rejected in Scotland by their own Parliament - and it is not the only issue of interference...

*** Spending on education, housing, health, social services and the economy is less in England than all the other nations of the United Kingdom...

*** Local councils dictated to by Whitehall party politicians, almost making who the local ratepayers elect irrelevant as Whitehall tells us how to spend our money...

*** Hospital directors appointed by Government Ministers - who don't even represent English constituencies - making decisions against the wishes of local people such as in Kidderminster...

*** Between elections our concerns are ignored in favour of the well financed lobby machines of companies and special interest groups with little care for people's jobs or personal liberties...

*** A former Home Secretary describes the English as 'violent'; and London's Mayor ignores Saint George's Day in England's capital while organising celebrations for Saint Patrick's Day...

*** Less and less people vote as they feel parties have a monopoly on power...

Is it not time for...

++++++++++++++ An ALLIANCE for ENGLAND ++++++++++++++

We can carry on complaining while nothing changes. We can fight local elections but Whitehall will do what it wants. We could let proud principles divide us. We can carry on allowing party politicians run our lives. Or we can take power from the Westminster parties for all the people of England.

We are all groups based in or registered as parties in England. Mayoral elections and Kidderminster Health Concern graphically highlight we can win, but also show we can still be over-ruled. We must win English Parliamentary constituencies to take power from the parties. By-elections can be our opportunity.

Churchill recognised the United Kingdom was not a state based on the interests of a nation but for the benefit of parties and factions. Scottish and Welsh devolution only highlights that fact. Yet England is ignored. England must now have its independence. A new arrangement can be made with the peoples of Scotland and Wales to ensure what is of shared value can be retained.

We have to UNITE for the sake of England as a nation of independent minded communities. POWER is the key to change things in our society and that power is presently in the hands of small factions monopolising Whitehall's power over that nation of independent minded communities.

If we don't unite our concerns will continue to be ignored. We shouldn't become slaves to a single party - on the contrary we should cherish our individuality - but can we not be a coalition for Parliamentary elections united by a common interest in democracy at a national and local level? Divided we can be ignored. Together we have the strength of numbers to change England for the better.

Thousands of people don't vote and they cry out for something new. Something different - free from the dead hand of party politics. It is no coincidence the young hardly vote yet enthusiastically fly the Cross of Saint George at rock concerts. They have seen a future. We can deliver it. Our current diffuse state only allows parties to hold that future back. The time is ripe for a future of:

A democratic England with guaranteed democracy for the communities of England
